For Kidō, “It’s important to take the Ocean to the city, remembering that the seawater pollution is a problem of all inhabitants.”
Incorporated in the 2024 Environmental Education Activities of the Blue Flag Programme and with the help of Lipor, a company responsible for waste management and environmental protection in the North of Portugal, the school community participated in the Plogging Challenge and the Blue School initiative in the coastal area of the city.
These cleaning actions were attended by 70 students from the Dr. Manuel Laranjeira School, who collected approximately 120 kg of waste, such as glass bottles, plastic, beverage cans, ropes, fishing nets, sponges, fabric, food packaging, among others.
The artist participated in these plogging actions, guiding the students in the selection of waste in its own bags, for subsequent reuse, while raw material, in the creation of installations and sculptures within the scope of the 5th Edition of the ExpressAR-TE project with the theme “O Mar precisa de Líderes, a tua praia é a tua causa”.
