PHOENIX, 2024
From the idea of a new journey that is renewed in more or less rapid processes, this sculpture is a celebration of life.
“PHOENIX” FRONT VIEW, 2024.
Phoenix is a 2 (two) meters length and 1 (one) meter tall sculpture, with a body made of fiberglass with pieces of ceramic and mosaic glued on its surface. This scultpture is synonymous with reinvention, rebirth and renewal.
The phoenix is, according to ancient people, such as the Greeks, Egyptians and Chinese, a mythological bird with unique abilities, which no other could achieve. From her own death, using fire to consume herself, she manages to emerge from a place where finitude, death and blackness reign. The ashes, what as a rule means the end of no return for any living being, becomes the pretext to return to life, feeding hope and belief in an even more promising future.

“PHOENIX” UPPER VIEW, 2024.
In Phoenix, the inspiration of the ancestral bird is exposed in the use of various visual references: the bright, strong colors, between the shades of red and yellow, gold and black; the Portuguese found ceramics which acquire a new meaning; and the lotus flower, a plant that possesses mystical attributes and is renewed daily at the first rays of dawn, after a period of seclusion and closure. In this process, life is exalted through life, hope through the reuse of materials and processes that were, like the phoenix, with a destiny mapped out. As if the end were the beginning of a new cycle, where the first rays of the morning bring renewed hope for a new journey made of unpredictability, but, simultaneously, of enthusiasm.
This sculpture is weather-resistant and designed to be placed in an open space, nestled in grass or in a reflecting pool, such as a lotus flower to create a greater unity between the elements and the references that serve as its basis, in praise of the natural, the beautiful and the hope!
Phoenix becomes a sanctuary, an installation to reflect and rejuvenate amidst the harmonious blend of natural elements and human creativity. It’s about crafting environments that resonate with emotions and memories.
