BIOGRAPHY

Isa Magalhães, also known as Kideo Kidō (b. 1983, Espinho, Portugal), is a conceptual and multidisciplinar artist specializing in found objects. Kidō delves into the possibilities and limitations of materials, fostering a dialogue about sustainability and transforming spaces into multisensory experiences. Her work is profoundly shaped by theater and cinema, which she studied for two years at The New Actors Workshop in New York City. A defining aspect of her art is audience participation, a signature element of The Living Theatre company, where she was a member. She was also a member of A Barraca, a Lisbon-based theater company, and performed at the Portuguese Parliament in 2014 as part of the April Revolution commemorations. Isa holds a Fine Arts Licenciature Diploma from Escola Superior Artística do Porto.
Selected installations from 2024  include A Liberdade at Museu do Oriente (2024, Lisbon, PT) which earned Kidō an award; O Mar Não Tem Limites for the Blue Flag at Museu Municipal de Espinho (2024, Espinho, PT) where she was an Artist in Residence; and Fragment 2 at the Atlantic Axis Biennial (2023/24, various cities, PT/ES). In the same year, she was honored with an artistic merit award from La Pinacothèque Museum in Luxembourg and her work The Holistics became part of the public collection of Museu Municipal de Espinho.
In 2025 Kidō held her first solo exhibition ever at a Museum in Museu Municipal de Espinho where she presented An Exploration of Trash, an interactive collection of sculptures, paintings and video installations.
